Blue Sharks are sleek, open-water hunters that swim across temperate and tropical oceans worldwide. They range from the southern coast of Alaska to the southern tip of South America. They prefer cool water and are found in deeper tropical zones. Adults range from 6 to 12 feet long.

• History: The Blue Shark's scientific name roughly translates to bluish-grey saw point. Given its serrated teeth and thin snout, one can see how it's like a saw in the water. The shark is just one classification away from Least Concern because of the potential for overfishing on the eastern coast of the United States.
