Tyrannosaurus rex means tyrant lizard king, and its massive size and long teeth live up to the billing. Making its home in North America, T-rex used powerful jaws and knife-like teeth to crush bone and tear meat. T-rex may have been both hunter and scavenger.

• History: 65 million years ago, Tyrannosaurus rex was at the top of the food chain, one of the most iconic apex predators in the entire natural history of earth.
